The X magazine’s target audience is uni sex but is mostly aimed at young girls or X factor fans as the genre is associated more with pop music featuring heartthrob boy bands.
The price is highlighted in the top left hand corner which is the most dominant this makes sure it stands out and this is what is wanted as its on sale for such a good price so its written in pink backed in a yellow bubble which makes it stand out, the price can also make the magazine more appealing as the audience know it’s cheap and affordable and its clearly stated so they feel like they are getting a bargin.
This magazine uses a range of different fonts but focuses on san serif fonts making the whole magazine clearer to read. The main colour scheme is white; pink and orange.
The mast head isn’t very big as in it doesn’t cover much space but it uses the TV show’s famous logo of the ‘X’ which is extremely well known and would grab the audience’s eye as they would recognise it. Using the Logo makes it recognisable therefore liked and it also means they don’t have to make it big and have more room to advertise what the magazine includes. The X is in red, outlined in black and its backed by a pink square with ‘magazine’ written in small font underneath the ‘X’ still on the bright pink making it a big contrast so it does still stand out.
The magazine is split into three sections vertically and horizontally, the first section the top half has a black stirp with the words ‘music’, ‘stars’, and ‘style’ each with a pink star beside them this tells the reader whats in the magazine without them having to look at the rest of it and it clearly stands out as it is backed on black with white writing so its a big contrast. Underneath that still in the first section is the masthead and logo but then unusually next to that is a smaller cover line which is unusal to have next to the masthead but its a good technique as it the reader automatically see it whilst looking at the masthead and this coverline is advertising fashion which is important to alot of readers and would draw them in.
The second section in the middle shows three main images all that star in the latest series of X factor each has a quote underneath this tells the reader what their story inside will be about and having the three pictures will make the audience recognise them and some they will like and some dislike and either way want to read as they know its about the TV show. The third section at the bottom is of other music artists that don’t star in the TV show this is important as it could also attract the reader who is not interested in the TV show and are interested in the other music stars they show.
The three X factor members are the main pictures and their different two are mid-shots and one is an extreme close up which makes the magazine look different and more intresting. The two mid-shots are of the female artists and this is significant as you can see their clothes that are fashionable and could also attract the reader as their wearing fashionable clothes.
The terminal area uses a useful technique of half of the sentence being straight and then overlaps the second half that is slightly slanted it gives the magazine a more realistic view as its not all neat and it suggests its busy and full of things to read.
The cover lines, include words like ‘exclusive’ and ‘drama’ these words grab attention to the reader as they will like that their getting access into a secret or the unknown and draws them into buying it more. The words ‘you’ and ‘your’ mean the reader and make them feel involved in the magazine and mean they can relate well to them.
The Route of the eye represents the where the readers eyes focus on and on this front cover it starts at price> masthead>smaller cover line > through the main pictures> through the smaller cover lines.
