My Music Magazine survey results

60% of people that took my survey where male, so the results of my survey will reflect the views of mostly male. A lot of music magazines are aimed at males more than females so my results correspond this.

80% of people that took my survey said that pictures on the cover and within the magazine where the main attraction in buying them, second was cover lines which got 20% i had ten voters but only two out of four options where voted for, this makes me think they are the most important and i will make sure that when i make my own magazine i concentrate hard on making the pictures good and attractive throughout the magazine and that cover lines are also bold, short and snappy to grab attention, although i will also use the other two options in my magazine ( mast head, layout) but i wont concentrate on them as much as i know they aren't what makes people want to buy the magazine.

The colour scheme results where quite closely scored 50% of people voted for black, red and white I've seen this colour scheme used a lot on indie music magazines such as NME, but as my genre wasn't indie i don't think I'd use this colour scheme for my magazine. 30% of people voted for pink, yellow, and white which i think are more femine colours which is ideal for my target audience. 20% of people voted for blue, red, yellow which follows with the genre for younger children music magazines like top of the pops and pop. No one voted for two colours showing that a wider variety is better which i will take into account when making my magazine.

For my categories i choose popular artists who were in the charts and the vote was very close with the winning vote only winning by 30% this shows that popular artists that are well known and are in the charts are most preferred for my magazine, i had someone vote for an other which was the Beatles but i think their a little old for the type of music magazine i was aiming to make.

The majority voted for an ordered layout with a winning vote of 70%, i liked the effect of a cluttered layout as i always thought it made the magazine look busy and full with information and therefore great value for money, but with an ordered layout you can make it clear what the magazine is about and what it includes.

what type of other articles in a music magazine results showed interviews were top with a vote of 80% and second place was reviews, this shows that getting to know the artists and what other think of them is important to the audience.

The votes for these were close with sport and fashion drawing with 40% of the votes and in second gossip with 30% this is good results as my target audience is predominantly females and i can then include gossip and fashion into my music magazine.
